Go Green

Environmentally Friendly.

All EPS wine packaging shippers are 90% air and made with recycled content. Expanded polystyrene shippers can be sent back to WineLoc for recycling into new products.

Made with Recycled Material.

EPS packaging can contain over 60% recycled content packaging upon request. This recycled content is comprised of reclaimed waste in the form of a recycled molding bead called EcoSix. Learn more about EPS packaging with EcoSix.

All scrap expanded polystyrene material generated during manufacturing is ground up and incorporated into new products. The closed-loop manufacturing process can incorporate recycled content in the wine packaging that meets or exceeds 9% recycled content* for EPS set forth by the EPA.

A total of 69.4 million pounds of expanded polystyrene (EPS) was recycled in the industry during 2008, up from 56 million pounds in 2006 a 19% increase in recycling. During the same period, WineLoc increased its recycling.

Comprehensive EPS recycling information and resources such as list of large volume recycling facilities can be obtained from the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers.

Resource Efficient.

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) uses little energy to manufacture and creates little pollution. Only 0.1% of total oil consumption is used to manufacture EPS. Steam from the manufacturing process is collected and re-used many times.

Optimizes Materials & Energy.**

If all EPS packaging were replaced with corrugated cardboard, paper, wood, etc, compared with current figures, raw material requirements would rise 560%, power consumption to 215% and landfill volume to 150%.

Reduces Supply Chain Waste.

Molded pulp and EPS packaging cushions and protects wine bottles better than alternative packaging, such as wood from repeat impacts during shipment. This reduces waste caused by goods that are broken or damaged in the supply chain saving energy, material and transportation resources. Satisfied customers will safely receive your product.

Reduces Fuel Consumption.

National manufacturing locations combined with the light weight of the product reduces shipping distances and fuel consumption.

*EPA's Recovered Materials Advisory Notice (RMAN) recommends recycled-content levels for purchasing expanded polystyrene. The recommended 9% minimum recycled-content is for expanded polystyrene (EPS) building insulation. Recommended minimum recycle-content for EPS packaging applications were not available at the time of this webpage posting on July 20, 2009.
